Supported by Supplements
Before I dive into information about the who’s and whats of supplements in my life, I would like to address the why. It had been long since my days of Flintstone chew-ables before I realized the necessity of supplementing vitamins and minerals into my routine.
In your mind I want you to imagine how your day goes most of the time. Do you wake feeling rested? What is your morning routine like? Your commute? Do you feel stress before the clock strikes noon? How many cups of coffee does it get you feel energized? Do you ever feel truly feel “energized?” Lunch time. What do you eat? How fast do you eat it? Do you know where it comes from? Do you properly digest it? Do you feel the mid-afternoon crash? Does this inspire yet another round of joe? Are you feeling joy throughout your day? When you arrive home do you have anything left? Are you in pain? When do you fall asleep? Can you fall asleep? Do you stay asleep? Do you feel full function of your mental and physical capacity?
I imagine that many of us live a life that is running almost on empty. I myself lived the life questioned above, getting by on stress and fumes, feeling like shit physically and mentally, foggy headed and disconnected. Without proper nutrients in my body it physically could not run properly. THINK if you are low on oil in your car, eventually it will burn up, along with all the other ins and outs of car mechanics. Our bodies are our vehicle, we have to supply them with the proper fuel to run.
Our food sources are not as nutritious as they once were, poor farming and soil conditions have decreased the potency of wholeness. Many pharmaceuticals treat symptoms while simultaneously depleting other nutrients in our bodies, putting us out of balance. Due to our lifestyles; we are moving less, seeing less sun, and follow diets not fit for health. All of these aspects leave us feeling drained, stressed, in pain, and not fully ourselves.
When I took a survey of what people would want to improve in their physical lives the top answers were “Stress & Anxiety,” “Energy,” “Hair & Skin,” “Pain (Arthritis)”, and “Endurance.” I put together some of my favorite supplements to touch on all of these areas!
B Vitamins
B Vitamins are necessary for energy and to stay balanced in mind and body. This complex will help brain function, build red blood cells, stimulate the immune system, and improve hair and skin health.
When we are stressed B vitamins are the first to be depleted, as well as when we drink alcohol and coffee, have gut issues, and take medication. So its more than likely that almost all of us should be taking a B.
I specifically like this bran because it comes in a form that is easiest for our body to absorb. The powder is super yummy and has become apart of my morning routine!
Curcumin
For pain and arthritis we’ve all heard about using Tumrmeric. Well, Curcumin is the chemical compound found in turmeric that makes it so wonderful. Since I’ve added this to my routine I am moving and grooving pain free.
In addition to pain and inflammation, it is great for the detoxing and for the liver. It increases antioxidants and prevents from brain and heart diseases!
These two have been saviors in my life. I do not take either daily but in times of great need, it would be okay to do so.
Mental Sunshine is for my days when I am feeling depressed and unable to shake it up. It is a combination of 5-HTP, Saffron, Inositol, Calcium, and B-6.
Stress Guard is for my adrenal balance. When we are really stressed out, we deplete lots of vitamins and overwork our bodies. This combo has lots B’s, Ashwaghanda, Holy Basil, L-Thenine, Skullcap, and Licorice Root.
Mood/Stress Support
Magnesium
Oh magical Magnesium, how did I ever rest before you? This specific type of Magnesium, Glycinate is for relaxation and calmness. Not only do I sleep so much better and for the entirety of the night but it has drastically improved my anxiety.
As well as those wonderful aspects Magnesium Glycinate can also aid in pain relief, can be taken for migraines, to ease PMS symptoms, and to regulate blood sugar.
Being able to sleep has improved my overall mood and response to the day. Feeling rested when I wake up is a completely new journey with the morning time and has allowed me being each day feeling ready and grateful for whatever is coming my way.
Who does not want beautiful locks, firm nails, and healthy looking skin? We spend sooo much our lives trying to work on our appearance, fix and finagle things to be picture perfect so I just want to tell you first. YOU ARE AMAZING AS YOU ARE. Realize that in your mind and then any improvement is just a bonus.
Anyway, to look HEALTHY which is what we should all be striving for. I have found collagen builders to the best. While taking collagen directly is some avenue people like to take. I really like the idea of stimulating the bodies atmosphere to produce its own collagen.
There are many forms of collagen available, I personally do my best to keep it plant based. But whatever avenue you take, make sure it comes from a healthy source.
Hair/Skin
The other aspects of my daily routine are linked to my immune system and detoxing. After being sick with Lyme Disease and continually testing positive for Epstien-Barr Virus I made it my personal journey to really support a system that has been working hard for awhile. In addition what is missing from the picture is my Probiotic that also supports my gut and immune system.
Not every supplement is right for everyone and they do not all mix well. Make sure you do proper research or reach out to someone who is knowledgeable in the herb/functional nutrition world. (ahem, Feel free to contact me anytime) BUT I would highly recommend some kind of routine for everyone to feel their absolute best. When we feel our best, we are able to do our best. Much more can be accomplished in the world when everyone is feeeelin’ good and groovy.
