Whimsical World

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”

Moments before dark a pink purple haze paints the world around me. Impossible to capture by camera, I take time to appreciate the fascination of dusk. Breathing deeply into the present moment I am grateful to be alive and witnessing such a whimsical phenomena. Soon, the haze fades and turns to darkness. As I look up the bright full moon is smiling down on me; I am in awe at her selfless splendor. Nature asks for no attention but when watched with awareness, there is always something magical happening. Once I began looking at life in this perspective, I discovered that these features are also apart of me.

Nature is a healer and a teacher. She provides us with alluring aesthetic, cycles of change and growth, and plentiful plants that serve as food and medicine. The sounds of the morning are my favorite in meditation, there is nothing like hearing the chatter of the natural world awakening with the sunrise. Run on instinct, nature is enchanting to watch unfold.

When it comes to nature and healing endless synchronicities can be found. Plants have provided medicine for humans and animals since the beginning of time, the earliest uses were in Egyptian times 1550 BC. The healing nature of plants are gentle and sustainable for our body. In the current day in age, we have fallen way from natural practices as pharmaceuticals and quick fixes to symptoms rule the medical field. Often times these chemicals cause adverse side effects and do not cure the root cause of the problem. When I began using plants and food as medicine, I watched my body, mental health, and Lyme Disease improve greatly.

Humans have become disconnected from the fact that we are nature. We need nature more than she needs us. As I continually watch us destroy beautiful landscapes and homes for ecosystems, poison our water supply, and blindly work against ourselves with genetic modifying and toxic chemicals I can only pray that we come together in this realization. The plants are the medicine, food our fuel, water our nourishment, landscapes for us to revel in creativity and happiness, shared connection with earth and body. The time is now to love our mother.

I believe that if we start to pay attention to the healing properties of nature maybe we will show greater appreciation. It took time for me to see the world in such a whimsical way, but when it came into vision my walk through life was much different. Learning the lessons of nature were not alway easy or comfortable but the love received was deeply empowering and healing. My mother’s favorite motto growing up was to “leave things better than you found them.” That is my mission for my enchanting environment here on Earth.
